The leaves and stock of the daylily offer greenery in the garden for weeks before there is any evidence of blossoms. Once an individual daylily blossom opens, it is there to be appreciated for only that day. Its petals quickly begin to curl and all of its glory is past. This bloom, one of several that opened together, needed to be isolated with a black drape to fully appreciate its beauty.
