American Pekin duck grooming on a rock within a creek in western Washington state. Pekin ducks are a domestic breed used primarily for their meat and their eggs. Ancestors of the Pekin include Mallard ducks. These white ducks were introduced in the United States when they were imported to Long Island from China. Some still refer to them as Long Island duck. The majority of the duck meat consumed in this country is that of the beautiful white Pekin.
