Description
The Columbia River Crossing at I-5 connects Washington and Oregon states. These nearly identical steel vertical lift bridges were build and put into service one at a time. The first in 1917 and the second in 1928. Each bridge has a lift span necessary to accommodate some of the larger ships that ply the Columbia River. The Interstate Bridge is also known as the Columbia River Interstate Bridge, I-5 Bridge, Portland-Vancouver Interstate Bridge, Vancouver-Portland Bridge. In 1982, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This time-exposure night image picked up reflections on the water and lights of multiple moving vehicles as they crossed the bridge.
