Description
As the sun sets, it casts the last of its rays directly on the high-rise buildings of downtown Seattle. Once the sun begins to color the glass and polished stone of the buildings in gold, it is reluctant to give up its glory for the darkness of night. Seattle sits on Elliott Bay, a sheltered,deep-basin of salt water that is part of Puget Sound. The Greatwheel, a Seattle waterfront attraction. is illuminated with white lights unless it changes the color for special occasions like Seahawks' home games. The red visible here honored Valentine's Day. The silhouetted mountains in the background are a section of the Cascade range that runs throughout the state of Washington. A tall crane is visible in the background; it symbolizes a city that is prosperous and growing with a vibrant downtown core.
