A short distance down the mountain from Paradise Visitor's Center at the base of Mt. Rainier, a roadside turnout exposes this view.. The u-shaped valley attests to the historic presence of large glaciers. The mountains, visible in this scene, are some of the Tatoosh Range and are within the park's boundary. Although not the largest of the United States' national parks, Mt. Rainier National Park covers 369 square miles.
